» Principles for the testing of power-operated industrial trucks according to DGUV regulation 68 (BGV D27; FEM 4.004)

In accordance with § 37 of the Accident Prevention Regulation "Industrial trucks" (BGV D27), industrial trucks, their attachments and the safety devices required by this Accident Prevention Regulation for the operation of industrial trucks in narrow aisles must be inspected by an expert as required, but at least once a year. The employer must provide proof of the periodic inspections.

The person who has sufficient knowledge in the field of industrial trucks due to his professional training and experience and is familiar with the relevant national work regulations, accident prevention regulations, guidelines and generally accepted rules of technology (e. g. DIN standards, VDE regulations, technical rules of other member states of the European Union or other signatory states of the agreement on the European Economic Area) is qualified to assess the safe working condition of industrial trucks. These are, for example, appropriately trained foremen or fitters of the manufacturing companies.

The periodic inspection shall be carried out as follows:

  1. A little check. After 500 to 600 operating hours (1/4 year in single-shift operation). The test covers the assessment of the general condition of the industrial truck and its equipment by inspecting in particular the forks, pins and chains.

  2. Big check. After 2000 to 2400 operating hours (one year of one-shift operation). The test covers the following groups of devices.

Annotation

Explosion-protected industrial trucks should be inspected at shorter intervals to ensure that they are in good condition, only by external inspection. Any damage or defects ascertained in this context, which give rise to the suspicion that the measures taken for explosion protection have been impaired or revoked, must be reported immediately.
The measures laid down in the operating instructions for the industrial truck and the existing regulations for the testing of explosion-protected systems and equipment by experts are neither restricted nor replaced by the above-mentioned measures.

» Inspection tag

In order to avoid any misunderstandings, stickers indicating the date of the next inspection should not be affixed to the material handling equipment until the safety deficiencies detected during the last inspection have been corrected. Genuine spare parts needed for your own repairs will be sent to you at the fastest possible cost.
